El Gobernador de la provincia argentina de Mendoza, Alfredo Cornejo, expuso estas palabras en el Consejo Canadiense para las Américas, en el marco de la PDAC 2025, Asociación de Prospectores y Desarrolladores de Canadá , la feria más grande del mundo en materia minera. Allí participó junto a la delegación argentina que tuvo su intervención en el Panel del Cobre.
El Gobernador junto a la comitiva argentina, comenzó su nueva jornada en Canadá participando en la apertura de la Bolsa de Toronto, una de las más grandes del mundo. De esta manera, el mandatario vivenció una vez más esta actividad, ya que el 28 de noviembre pasado, desde Mendoza, en medio de la Cumbre de Minería Sostenible, fue el protagonista al iniciar una nueva jornada bursátil y aprovechar la oportunidad para posicionar a la provincia en esta agenda mundial de gran magnitud.
Durante su exposición, Cornejo hizo hincapié en la percepción actual que tiene la provincia en materia de desarrollo minero y explicó que, en cuanto a los cambios ocurridos, una de las transformaciones fundamentales ha sido “la fuerte determinación de la provincia de hacerlo con estándares internacionales, con empresas internacionales probadas y con el cuidado de la minería como en cualquier tarea industrial”.
Según Cornejo, la provincia mantiene firme este plan y lo ha presentado en diferentes foros del mundo, como en Toronto. Asimismo comentó que, a un año de visitar la feria de Canadá, Mendoza ya cuenta con un Código de Procedimiento Minero modificado y acorde con los tiempos actuales en materia de minería.
Acto seguido enfatizó la importancia de agilizar los procedimientos al señalar que “los permisos deben ser ágiles, rápidos, efectivos; que los proyectos no se queden en la configuración inmobiliaria, sino que puedan proyectarse y llevarse a cabo”. En este sentido subrayó que el Gobierno provincial actúa como facilitador y que los permisos son de competencia provincial.
Por otro lado, el mandatario mendocino resaltó que el contexto macroeconómico es clave para el desarrollo de la minería. Aseguró que “si el equipo de negocios está consolidado y si los impuestos nacionales de la minería son adecuados, eso genera un marco propicio”. Asimismo manifestó que Argentina tiene una gran oportunidad gracias al “cambio de orientación económica del Gobierno nacional, que posee los instrumentos de seguridad económica”.
El Gobernador graficó que este cambio no sólo es discursivo, sino que también se apoya en medidas concretas como el Régimen de Incentivo para Grandes Inversiones (RIGI). Remarcó que, “gracias al RIGI, la presión impositiva para los proyectos mineros se asemeja a la de países como Perú y Chile, permitiendo así una mayor estabilidad macroeconómica”.
Cornejo destacó que “en Mendoza se están dando reglas claras para la actividad minera” y remarcó que actualmente hay 38 proyectos en marcha, de los cuales “tres están en perforación con empresas internacionales y cuatro están en prospección”.
También resaltó el inicio del proyecto PSJ Cobre Mendocino, el cual “acaba de presentar su Informe de Impacto Ambiental, iniciando su proceso de evaluación ambiental”.

In this way, the Governor experienced this activity once again, since last November 28, in the middle of the Sustainable Mining Summit, he was the protagonist at the beginning of a new day at the stock exchange in Mendoza, and took the opportunity to position the province in this important world agenda.
During his presentation, Cornejo emphasized the current perception of the province in terms of mining development and explained that, regarding the changes that have occurred, one of the fundamental transformations has been “the strong determination of the province to do it with international standards, with proven international companies and with the care of mining as in any industrial task”.
According to Cornejo, the province is holding firm to this plan and has presented it in different forums around the world, such as in Toronto. He also commented that, a year after visiting the Canadian fair, Mendoza already has a modified Mining Procedure Code in accordance with the current mining times.
He then emphasized the importance of streamlining procedures by pointing out that “permits must be agile, fast and effective; projects must not remain in the real estate configuration, but must be able to be planned and carried out”. In this sense, he emphasized that the provincial government acts as a facilitator and that the permits are of provincial competence.
On the other hand, the President of Mendoza highlighted that the macroeconomic context is key for the development of mining. He assured that “if the business team is consolidated and if the national mining taxes are adequate, this generates a favorable framework”. He also stated that Argentina has a great opportunity thanks to the “change in the economic orientation of the national government, which has the instruments for economic security”.
The Governor pointed out that this change is not only discursive, but is also supported by concrete measures such as the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI). He remarked that, “thanks to the RIGI, the tax pressure for mining projects is similar to that of countries such as Peru and Chile, thus allowing for greater macroeconomic stability”.
Cornejo highlighted that “in Mendoza there are clear rules for mining activity” and remarked that there are currently 38 projects underway, of which “three are in drilling with international companies and four are in prospecting”.
He also highlighted the start of the PSJ Cobre Mendocino project, which “has just presented its Environmental Impact Report, initiating its environmental evaluation process”.
