Williams subrayó que la competitividad de Chile como polo de inversión minera está cimentada en su compromiso con el multilateralismo y la consolidación de una economía abierta al mundo.
Los indicadores macroeconómicos actuales señalan un nuevo ciclo de dinamismo en la minería chilena, un hecho que se ve reforzado por noticias trascendentales ocurridas en 2025. Entre estos hitos, la ministra destacó la fusión de Anglo y Teck, un evento que, según afirmó, redefinirá el mapa de la minería mundial del cobre y otorgará a Chile un rol aún más central en la estrategia de los grandes productores mineros.
Reformas de Permisología: Agilizando la Inversión Minera
En línea con la estrategia de dinamización del sector, la Ministra Williams mencionó los esfuerzos del gobierno del Presidente Gabriel Boric para acelerar los plazos de los proyectos de inversión. Detalló la presentación de la Ley Marco de Autorizaciones Sectoriales, calificada como la reforma estructural más grande en materia de permisos sectoriales de los últimos años.
El objetivo de esta ley es actualizar el sistema hacia uno simplificado, flexible y dinámico. Este avance busca movilizar grandes inversiones, logrando disminuir en un tercio el tiempo de tramitación de proyectos mineros, sin comprometer el cumplimiento de la normativa ambiental vigente.

La participación de la ministra en la Asia Copper Week 2025 se da en un contexto de creciente demanda de cobre, impulsada directamente por la transición hacia tecnologías limpias y energías renovables. Es importante recalcar que China es actualmente el mayor consumidor mundial de este mineral y, estratégicamente, el principal comprador de cobre chileno.
Antes de su llegada a Shanghái, la titular de Minería mantuvo una agenda clave en Beijing. Allí sostuvo citas bilaterales con los ministros chinos de Recursos Naturales, Guan Zhi’ou, y de Industrias y Tecnología de la Información, Li Lecheng, buscando fortalecer la colaboración en proyectos estratégicos. Su paso por la capital china también incluyó visitas técnicas a centros especializados del Servicio Geológico de China, acompañada por la vicepresidenta (s) de Cochilco, Claudia Rodríguez; el Director del Instituto Nacional de Litio y Salares, Hernán Cáceres; y el jefe del Departamento de Geología General del Sernageomin, Omar Cortés.
En el resto de su agenda en Shanghái, la Ministra Williams asistirá a la tradicional Asia Copper Dinner y expondrá en el CEO Summit Asia Cooper Week. En esta instancia, la ministra presentará las estrategias chilenas para impulsar la transición energética, con un énfasis especial en el suministro de minerales críticos, el fortalecimiento de la capacidad de fundición y la promoción de una industria colaborativa para satisfacer la demanda global de cobre requerida para la electromovilidad.

There, she held bilateral meetings with Chinese Minister of Natural Resources Guan Zhi’ou and Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Lecheng, seeking to strengthen collaboration on strategic projects. Her visit to the Chinese capital also included technical visits to specialized centers of the Geological Survey of China, accompanied by the acting vice president of Cochilco, Claudia Rodríguez; the director of the National Institute of Lithium and Salt Flats, Hernán Cáceres; and the head of the General Geology Department of Sernageomin, Omar Cortés.
