El gobernador de San Juan y actual presidente de la Mesa de Cobre, Marcelo Orrego, disertó este lunes en el “Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada” (PDAC) edición 2025, que nuclea a los más de 27.000 exploradores y productores más importantes de la minería, donde destacó a esta industria como política de estado de la provincia cuyana. y subrayó que la provincia concentra el 54% de las inversiones en exploración minera de Argentina. Resaltó la minería como política de Estado y el potencial del cobre para atraer inversiones extranjeras.
«Actualmente, somos el distrito con mayor inversión en exploración minera del país y un actor clave en el futuro del cobre. Para seguir avanzando, es fundamental consolidar la confianza entre las compañías y la sociedad, garantizando reglas claras, inversión y un desarrollo sustentable que genere empleo y crecimiento local».
El evento contó con la presencia de referentes del mundo minero y financiero, así como de gobernadores de provincias mineras y autoridades nacionales; entre ellas, la secretaria general Karina Milei, el secretario de Finanzas. Pablo Quirno, y el secretario de Minería, Luis Lucero.
En su intervención, Orrego destacó la continuidad de la minería como política de estado en San Juan, una estrategia sostenida durante décadas. Asimismo, resaltó el liderazgo de la provincia en exploración minera y la relevancia del cobre, que posiciona a San Juan en la mirada de los grandes actores de la industria.
“En 2024, San Juan recibió el 54% de las inversiones en exploración minera de toda Argentina”, afirmó al respecto.
El auditorio mostró gran interés en el futuro desarrollo de la minería del cobre, donde San Juan se perfila como el principal actor del país. En este sentido, el gobernador subrayó la existencia de acuerdos sociales que respaldan la actividad y enfatizó la importancia de acompañar el crecimiento del sector con un enfoque sustentable, promoviendo empleo local y proveedores regionales. También destacó la necesidad de diversificar la economía provincial, sin descuidar sectores como la agroindustria, el turismo y la economía del conocimiento.
